Each year, our third grade students learn about a famous historical figure and become that person for a living wax museum project. I have discovered that the "Who Was/Is" series of books are a great way to get kids engaged in learning about historical figures and provide an excellent opportunity for my students to begin thinking about who they would like to research for their project. By providing my classroom with a set of "Who Was/Is" books, you the donor are providing my students with an excellent opportunity to discover new historical figures and learn how to research using more than one source. I have discovered that our school library is an excellent resource for books that my students may need for projects. However, having books on hand in the classroom is powerful and will help me to easily help guide my students towards deciding who they would like to research far in advance.
