Many of my students have not had any experiences with calculators. Now that we are using the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics, there are many opportunities for students to further their understanding of Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 through the use of graphing calculators. My students are inquisitive and want to learn new math concepts. Providing them with the opportunity to explore with and use graphing calculators, they will be better prepared to continue and further their math education. Our school doesn't have enough funding to supply materials or technology to the students, and many of our students come from low income homes who cannot afford expensive supplies like graphing calculators.
