The goal of the Reading program in my classroom is to recover, inspire, and launch passionate readers on a life long journey of joyful learning. My joy comes from continually updating the curriculum I offer to make this happen. An integral part of developing professionally is not only seeking out and incorporating dynamic high quality reading materials that will engage, and become meaningful to, my students, but also to fulfill the spirit and letter of national and district requirements for best practices. Currently, that means conducting Close Reads with complex texts. Close Reads means mining the text for all the deep meaning it contains. Complex texts meet three requirements; qualitative complexity, quantative complexity and reader and task demands. I always turn to Donorschoose for new and recent materials to improve my text offerings. Thank you Donors and Donorschoose!
