My classroom is where all the 7th and 8th graders in the district who are new to the United States (within their first three years) come to learn how to both speak English and met the English Language Arts standards set by the state of Texas. We also work together to master the state expectations in math, science, and history. While the majority of my students speak Spanish, many other languages are present, as well. This year, I have students from Germany, Vietnam, the Phillipines, Mexico, Puerto rico and Honduras. Along with the variety in languages comes a variety of academic levels and English proficiencies. It can be a challenge, but I know that I have the most amazing students in the school, and I feel blessed to be their teacher.
