I chose these games with all of my students in mind. One of my students on the spectrum absolutely adores animals. He knows the names of so many of them, some more exotic than others. Using that passion for animals, we've been able to work on expanding his use of language for different functions like asking questions, using adjectives to describe animals, and engage in back and forth exchanges with his peers. I love it when I hear my kids cheer when I tell them what game we're going to play. They don't always know that baked in my games are speech and language goals. The games I chose are simple labeling games for my littlest ones, and more complex rhyming and story telling games for my older students. Regardless of the level, all these games will teach my students about taking turns, reading social cues, cooperating, resolving conflicts, and just plain having fun.
