My students are hard working, poverty stricken students striving to improve themselves. Many of them come from immigrant families or families that have recently settled down after migrating to find work in California agriculture. My students are 9th and 10th graders who swim against the stream in this town. It is a place where those who do well leave and vow never to return. My students dream of finding a way to bring life back to our little town. I dream of helping them to find a way to do that by putting words on paper.
