Every day, I am given the unparalleled opportunity of working with 8th graders within an Integrated Co-Teaching Setting (ICT), within the content areas of math and social studies. This means that I work with a partner teacher to provide specifically designed instruction to meet the varied needs of students with and without disabilities. My students are the embodiment of joy. Their big smiles, eagerness to learn (and teach me!) are some of the ways they bring their best selves into the classroom. My students come from a variety of backgrounds, and a majority of them are from low-income households. In the classroom, however, one does not notice this, because in math and social studies, they are working hard at analyzing the world around them, and learning to make sense of it.
