My students come from a variety of backgrounds. Most of them are second language learners, some are from the homeless shelter, and there are others who are refugees from Africa. The school is a Title I school with 100% of the students on free breakfast and lunch. The school itself promotes parent involvement through an active PTO, parent nights, and teacher/parent relationships. We strive to offer these students the same necessities that students in surrounding districts receive. Every middle school student has a district provided laptop they are responsible for bringing to class everyday. I utilize this technology to support college and career readiness with every lesson. Each student in my classroom is unique and talented; they just need the tools and guidance to use those talents to become strong leaders and thinkers.
