WOW! This past year, our school system adopted Lucy Caulkins' Readers Workshop in every elementary classroom. There was a HUGE shift in how reading is taught. I was a bit skeptical at first, but by January, the majority of the class took off! I could not believe it, the students were wanting to shop for books, but I had a hard time staying organized with the system I had. I know that with the proper shelving, baskets, and books, the students will be more productive and enthusiastic about their reading, and keep moving up to higher levels!
