My writing center will be a creative workstation to help my students develop a positive attitude towards writing. By helping them strengthen and develop their fine motor skills, they build their confidence in learning. Through drawing and writing they develop tools to help them communicate their thoughts and ideas more clearly. The materials requested give my students a variety of options for classroom learning. From the tactile sand paper letters, letter stamps, magic boards, and dry erase markers, the students will be able to experience multiple facets of the writing experience. The writing claws will help my students learn pencil grip without holding the students’ hands. Sandpaper letters will be used to teach letter identification and letter formation. The students will trace and make crayon rubbings with the sandpaper letters. The alphabet stampers will be used with play dough to perfectly stamp out letters, names and sight words. All kids love play dough! At the beginning of the year, my students will utilize the dry erase boards, markers and erasers to "Rainbow Write" their names and letters. They will use different colored markers to practice writing their names. The "Find the letter" skill-building center gives early learners a hands-on way to explore letters as they follow simple prompts on activity cards. The magic boards allow for unlimited writing and drawing practice. The organizational bins, pocket chart, and crayon caddies will help to keep the area clean and inviting. By establishing a Writer's Workshop, my students can learn the basic skills of writing and drawing that will help them grow as communicators. The materials requested can give them all a strong foundation with tools that will enable them all to succeed. With the help of your donation my students will be given many choices to explore and make learning exciting.
