My classroom is never empty. I have students in my class from 7:00 a.m. (they are waiting for me at the door when I arrive at school) to 3:45. School doesn't start until 8:00 and ends at 3:15. My students are part of the mild/moderate Special Day Class program. They spend most of their school day in their SDC classes. My students look like any general education student, which can sometimes be deceiving for their general education teachers. General education teachers sometimes forget our students have special needs and over whelm them with work. When students feel overwhelmed, they know they can rely on me to support them. My students have different types of learning disabilities. The disabilities range from processing speed, ADHD, autism and everything in between. Most of the students cannot be seating down quietly for long periods of time. They can get uneasy and lose focus. Having such different levels and needs within the classes create a challenging, but rewarding day.
