After teaching for many years in an environment of very little technology, my classroom was recently awarded an interactive whiteboard. Needless to say, my 21st Century learners have embraced the opportunities it provides. I truly have 100% engagement!! Since cooperation and working together are skills that are taught, I have been borrowing devices that can be used in teams that work interactively with the whiteboard. Since shared items are highly sought after in my building, we do not get that opportunity very often. However, the outcomes are overwhelmingly successful when we get our tech time. Seeing how my students respond so positively to holding their own device has pushed me to research online reading trackers, math review sites, and writing venues. Having 5 Kindles for use throughout the day would optimize the technology that is already available to us!
