Over time, investing in instruments for my classroom such as digital keyboards with weighted keys is especially beneficial because once purchased, this instrument is incredibly long-lasting (20-25 years!) and the ongoing maintenance costs are minimal. An inclusion of a piano to our classroom will allow students to supplement their learning and reinforce concepts as they work together to learn their music. During class time, students have the opportunity to work in small groups, and having a piano will allow the budding student leaders in my classroom to gain leadership experience as they play the notes and rhythms to model for their peers.
