My students come from a high poverty area and are English Language Learners. Many students have been exposed to very little prior to beginning Kindergarten, and they are coming in 2-3 years behind what would be considered a typical Kindergarten student. When teaching my students, I often times have to bring in real life examples, because they cannot make any type of connection without it. My students get excited beyond belief when we have special activities, like making an apple pie or carving a pumpkin. I would describe my school as very caring and teachers work hard to make sure students are getting the best education possible, using resources that are provided by the school as well on their own. We encourage students and take pride in them in all they do.
