My story is unique as I teach in the same school I attended as a student. Not much has changed for our rural K-12 school in the last thirty years. I teach in a school where children are know. We know their parents, we know their siblings we may even know their grandparents. My classroom is student centered, ever changing, and full of wonder. My students are naturally always asking questions and always excited to engineer. They love to learn, they love to share their stories, they love to do good. They do good for each other, good for their families, do good for their school, do good for their world. 2nd graders have a pure belief that they can be whatever they want to be, fix whatever injustice that needs to be fixed and solve any problem that needs to be solved. As their teacher I strive daily to provide a classroom where they create, question, fail, succeed, communicate, laugh, learn, play, explore and achieve.
