Students will special needs have different ways of learning. The Theory of Multiple Intelligence gives them this chance to learn with the new materials (sand table, science materials ). This is a great way to observe which student is more on visual, auditory, kinesthetic, musical, people smart, naturalistic, linguistic, intra-personal, and mathematical learning. The Montessori method is a hands on way of learning allowing students to create and destroy (STEM materials, blocks) as well as promote life skills and fine motor skills (Hippo Dress Basic Skills Toy). This explores Dale's Cone of Learning, hands on experience is 100%, learning by doing. Childhood aggression is lessened when students are active and engaged (tunnels and tent). When students are physically fit, mental health improves. Children learn better when they are happy. This allows learning to happen (dramatic play). The sand table is also a calming tool and dramatic play for students to promote socialization and play necessary for interpersonal and intra-personal skills in adulthood. The business of childhood is play so they say!
