In my classroom, these 4 characteristics are commonly followed: 1. The students are not sitting in straight row, but are working together in small teams. 2. Noise is welcomed and normal, because the students are commonly discussing and challenging each other's ideas. They use academic language to communicate with fellow team members as they figure out how to design a solution for the challenge. 3. Students are using digital technology. They are researching information, entering data, and even illustrating results of their experiments on digital devices. 4. GrowthMindset is practiced. The students don't get upset when their prototypes don't work. Instead, they start redesigning to improve them, and I as the teacher encourage failure as a stepping stone to learning.
