My students will be using the wobble chairs, lap trays, soft seats, and the fitpro balls with stability legs to help them take ownership of their learning! Research has shown that students learn best when they are physically active. My students are between the ages of 5 and 7, and they are very full of energy and are constantly moving. Like many children and adults, they struggle sitting still for extended periods of time. Many find it difficult to sit criss cross on the rug and in a regular chair. These seating options will promote movement and help them learn what works best for them (sitting close to the floor, standing, rocking, bouncing, etc). I would also use these seating alternatives to create stations, where students will work collaboratively and feel comfortable being themselves! In return, students will not only be engaged, but will also feel motivated and valued in our classroom.
