Having a comfortable, clean, and inviting place to learn makes it much easier to focus on learning. My students currently have a very old and worn rug - which is fraying on all sides. This rug is what keeps my students and I from sitting on the cold, concrete floor. In Kindergarten, we do most of our learning on the rug. A big classroom rug allows my students to learn while sitting comfortably and able to easily move their bodies, build a classroom community and sense of belonging. The bright colors on this rug will help them learn their primary colors. This rug also has clearly defined areas for my students to sit or dance in as a reminder about personal space. This clean and bright colored rug will make the classroom feel cozy and homey. With a new rug, my students won't be distracted by frayed edges, loosened strands, and the thinning rug but will be able to focus on what we are learning today.
