The mesmerizing sway of her colorful ribbon fascinated my students when an Olympian rhythmic gymnast visited our school last year. I teach Physical Education to kindergarten, first, second, and third grades - approximately 550 students. My school is in a high-need community with a 95% poverty level where Physical Education is the only time for physical activity during the school day. There is no recess. My students had never heard of, or seen rhythmic gymnastics, until this visit.
