I know that out pocket costs are a part of my profession. I did not know how heavy these costs are on music teachers until I took over my school's music program last year. In the few months we were in school, I spent over $1,000 of my own money repairing and providing materials for my music students. I want my students to be able to have the full experience of a young musician, I cannot do this without a budget nor with the few instruments our school owns. The quantity of instruments I am requesting is a small number compared to what the need of my program is but it is a start. It will help to bring a few working instruments within my woodwind sections that so desperately need them. If I am unable to supply instruments to all students, this means that many students will go without being able to play an instrument. I will happily accept working instruments that you would like to donate to this cause as well.
