Students will go through the process of watching fertilized chicken eggs develop and hatch into baby chicks! Students will experience and understand the incubation process and they will record and document how the chicks develop over time. Having a classroom chicken coop allows me to offer the wonderful experience of watching live chickens develop from egg to chick to my students for years to come. These items will also allow my students to better understand what type of care and needs these wonderful creatures need in order to survive. Students will learn to be responsible care givers and work collaboratively with each other to care for baby chicks. As the chicks get older and continue to grow in their classroom chicken coop, students will reach out to the community to find homes for their chicks.
