My students have larger than life personalities. They feel deeply and care deeply. My students are invested in the success of their classmates, they care about the world around them, and they seek to make positive change. My class is often loud and when you walk in it will look and feel unorthodox. Students have moved their desks into haphazard arrangements, they are chatty, they are disagreeing with one another. You must take the time to look closer- this appearance is because they are engaged. They are chatting because they are excited about what we are learning. They are disagreeing because they can't decide on WHY the author chose to use figurative language. 98% of the students in our school qualify for free and reduced lunch. We are in the heart of the Delta with limited resources. Despite the constricting circumstances, we strive to give students the education they deserve.
