My students need 30 TI-30X calculators to help them succeed as they advance in math. In sixth grade, students are branching out into math that is increasing difficult. We hit topics like fractions and decimals at the beginning of the year (and we make sure to practice how to do those by hand, don't worry!) However, as the year goes on, the focus shifts from being able to do the basic arithmetic, to being able to apply those skills in areas such as geometry and algebra. The calculators from this project would help our students truly succeed in these higher levels of math. When they have to complete the math by hand, these long complex problems often become overwhelming. Having calculators to help them along the way will provide our students with the opportunity to succeed at a much higher level.
