My students will learn healthy and nutritional values. Materials like kitchen furniture (stove, refrigerator, sink, and microwave) will help increase and encourage children's social-emotional and language development.
This will be something essential that my classroom will utilize on an everyday basis. Many children in my program experience my classroom as their first time outside their own home. For children who are considered disadvantaged because of their family’s low-income status, this will be a great learning experience to be able to pretend using these materials in class.
I will encourage self-eating habits and help them refine fine motor skills. Children will have the opportunity to dress-up, pretend cooking, eating, and cleaning up the kitchen in the dramatic play area. This will increase their awareness of nutritional and healthy eating. They will also learn to help others at home in the kitchen which will assist them in their social-emotional and language development skills.
