My students are energetic 1st graders at a public charter school. Our charter school is different from others. We are a school of the students that could "slip through the cracks" in a regular classroom. My students learn by doing in most cases. I am a tour guide in their education. The group of students I have are very active and are not engaged with worksheets and pencils. They love to try things and move around the room. I use discovery centers regularly to allow for this movement and to allow them to explore at their own pace. These students can pose a challenge when it comes to keeping their attention, but I wouldn't trade any of them. They love playing learning games (especially computer games) or looking for answers to the questions they come up with in my small classroom library. Since most of them do not have access to these games at home, I need your help!
