Students at MELS learn by exploring real world, current events in case studies that are developed by their teachers. Case studies engage students in a way that text books can never do by making the content relatable and applicable to their own lives. Thanks to this approach I have never heard any of my students use the dreaded phrase "Why do we have to learn this? I'm never going to use it!". In order for students to fully engage in these case studies they need to have access to the most current news and updates on the topic. The use of Chromebooks will greatly enhance how my students can explore case studies and content by using interactive websites, researching the information and develop the skills necessary to prepare for the digital future. Technology is something that all students, particularly my preteens, can relate to. The use of technology is shown to help english language learners better understand concepts as well as improve retention rates for all students. As a diverse school with students from all different backgrounds and abilities, these Chromebooks will help my students reach new levels of success.
