In kindergarten, we work hard on learning letters and sounds and how they work together to communicate to the world. Students are eager to learn how to read and write independently and we do all we can to foster that learning. Providing suggested activities for families to work on at home is typical support, however, I would like to provide the materials these families need to engage their children in the activities, to take down any potential barrier that could keep them from participating in these rich and playful learning opportunities. Parents and grandparents are their children's first teachers, and I want to support them as they work at home to grow their readers and writers. These magnetic letters sets will be sent home with a list of Magnetic Letters activities from the Fountas and Pinnell Phonics and Word Study Curriculum as well as activities I created specifically for my class' abilities and needs.
