I need help getting my kids organized! The major portion of this project will be going to large color coordinated bins with lids. This will give all the students their own work bucket for their papers and related manipulatives. When it is time for work, they will have all their necessary supplies all together! Children with autism often need help staying organized, and in our classroom, everything is color coordinated! We are also asking for pocket schedules in different colors to signal different activities. We do multiple Joint Action Routine (JAR) activities with our Speech Therapist where each student has a special job to complete within a larger task. They really enjoy these activities and each targets multiple academic and functional life skills. A giant sand timer will be a great addition to our sensory corner, making it clear to students when is it time to get back to work. This visible show that time is ticking will make an abstract concept (time) easier for some of my students to understand. Finally, wipe erase page protectors will significantly decrease the amount of copies I need to make every day! Many of my students need to practice their skills repeatedly before it is truly mastered. This will help the environment, save the school money and save me some time!
