These math games and activities will inspire a high level of motivation and interest in math class! The math board games will provide students with computation practice, which they can work on independently. My students will enjoy using the "Geometiles" and "Straw Builders" to build 2-D and 3-D shapes during our geometry unit. Games like "Lattice", "Blokus" and "SET" are excellent strategy games which help students deepen their mathematical understanding and logical thinking skills. Logical thinking is an important foundational skill for all areas of mathematics. "Peaceable Kingdom" games also encourage problem solving, while asking children to cooperate and work together to solve mathematical challenges. All of these resources will give my students opportunities to deepen their understanding of a broad range of mathematical concepts. They can work individually, in pairs or small groups to use these materials. The games will provide opportunities for them to work together, to cooperate and to communicate with one another. My students who are just learning English can easily participate as many of the activities do not require reading or writing. Most of the games provide multiple levels of challenge and students can work to their ability level. By donating to this project, you will help our second graders to see mathematics as challenging, interesting and fun! I guarantee these games and activities will be met with great enthusiasm and excitement for learning. I cannot wait to share the difference it will make to each of my students!
