First graders LOVE to use special tools when they are creating! This project will allow my class family to practice our writing skills in a new way. As we learn about the mechanics of writing, the students will earn money for mastery of skills. We will set up a class store in which students will use their earnings to purchase the supplies to create an amazing hardback published book! They will have opportunities to practice counting coins and saving for the items they would like to complete their book. They can purchase special drawing tools and tape as well as a hardback bound book. Students will type their stories and tape the text into the hardback books. They will then use the special drawing tools to create illustrations! The end result will be a hardback book to share! They will feel the pride and accomplishment of being a real author!
