This project will focus on creating a warm, organized setting that makes students happy to come to school. My biggest wish is to create a welcoming environment that helps students escape the sadness that is still seen and felt throughout our town, since the hurricane. I plan to have a carpet for our class to gather together and share our learning, as well as a few forms of flexible seating to aide in behavior management and academic success. There are a few students in our class with special needs that will benefit from weighted disks that they can sit on or place in their lap, as well as classroom light filters. Students will also need cubbies and bins in order to organize their learning materials and foster a sense responsibility.
