The feat that we are tackling this year is reading and writing by way of fluently reading and writing basic consonant-vowel-consent words and learning their sight words. This year has had its challenges, one major test is not having the appropriate technology to help them practice and use the skills. Tablets and stylus would take away the barriers when completing digital assignments and prepare us for future work. For example, there are plenty of digital resources to help the student practice these skills, but the students have difficulties interacting with the standard laptop. Also, there are so many free applications that they are not able to use because they only have laptops. This limits what resources they are able to use. Lastly, This gives them the opportunity to work on their fine motor skills, such as writing, which has been lost this year due to all of the digital assignments. Students will be able to practice the correct grip, forming letters, and formulating sentences to express their thoughts and understanding.
