My PreK students come from various low-income neighborhoods in the city of Boston. I teach in an inclusion classroom, which means that many of my students have disabilities and receive special services. Some of my students speak a language other than English at home, and several of them are below the poverty level. We use "centers-based learning" in our classroom. Students can go to different areas of the classroom that are based on STEM, art, dramatic play, and literacy. It is important for our classroom to have a rotating set of sustainable materials for all of our various centers so that children can learn through play.
