My students are inner city students that live in a high poverty area. Resources are limited here and 100% of our student body qualifies for free and /or reduced lunch. The students at Cox Academy are all children of color. Our school neighborhood is one of the most dangerous in our city. Our school opens the doors at 7 am. and closes at 6 pm. When I arrive at 7:15 there are a number of children sitting in the hallway just waiting for school to start. They know that they are safe when they come inside. They belong at this school. They hold doors for their teachers, ask if they can help and have goals to go to college like any other child in our city. However, we all know that if you don't have the resources, it will be a hard road to accomplish these goals. I do believe in each of my students and want to do everything in my power to ensure they have the best and highest quality education. I am asking for an ELMO to help them reach their goals.
