Our art class needs the right tools to learn how to draw self portraits. Portraits done with the aid of a mirror can teach artists the importance of paying attention to details. Charcoal pencils and white vinyl erasers will help my students find better value/shading skills compared to pencils and pink erasers. It is my hope that our selfie portrait project will promote self confidence and acceptance, better understanding of artistic techniques and an appreciation and tolerance for the differences in peers. We would also like to experience drawing in another medium other than pencil and marker for drawing but it is not in our budget this year. The new options for materials would boost artist confidence in our class!
