Students visit the media center for multiple reasons throughout the day. Currently, our library only has wooden tables and chairs which can get very uncomfortable. Our students struggle with reading and combined with uncomfortable seating options they can get easily distracted and lose focus. Some of our children choose to sit on the floor to read just to avoid being uncomfortable. Students will feel much more comfortable in our media center if provided with additional seating options. Providing multiple seating options in our school's library media center will promote literacy and independent reading. Instead of sitting on the floor they can actually cozy up with a good book in a bean bag chair or cushion making it a more enjoyable experience for all. Staying focused and working on their independent reading skills come easier to students when they are comfortable.
