At the beginning of the school year, the students focus on what math manipulatives are and how they can be used to assist during math class. I'm looking forward to having the magnetic math manipulatives library for the whiteboard. Allowing students the opportunity to come to the board and work out some problems will allow others to see their thinking as they process the task at hand. Having hands-on activities help create real-world problems and makes math more meaningful for them. We are also in need of some flexible seating during independent times when students are working at their own pace on their own skills. The Flex-Space Comfy Floor Seats will really help us develop some flexible seating arrangements around the classroom. It is important to make mathematics fun and interactive, allowing it to come to life. My students thrive when using manipulatives, but we are always in need of more. I am excited to bring STEM into the classroom this year and I look forward to more hands-on math games for the kids to work on together. I look forward to seeing their creations unfold with the Building Brick STEM challenge kit. The students will be able to interact with each other with the Operations and Algebraic Thinking Folder Game Library, as well as the game, 'Smath. Through all of this, they will learn to work as a team, which is such an important skill to learn. I look forward to where we go in math this year. I am excited to see them get excited when we dive into mathematics and engineering. I look forward to the year ahead of us as we begin a new year of 3rd grade.
