I want my students to go beyond the microscope labs that I did when I was in school. I want them to be able to consider real-world problems and conduct an investigation to understand and try to solve a problem. Science in an action verb, not simply a vocabulary lesson. I want my students to be able to investigate and master the science concepts from a first hand experience. Students will have access to five or six labs in one kit. These activities will help students investigate topics such as cell specialization, osmosis, mitosis, active transport, homeostasis, and cellular respiration. All of these topics are themes that reverberate throughout the entire year.
