I have been teaching for over 20 years and every year I still get genuinely get excited! I've always known I wanted to be a teacher and my school babies are my heart. I teach in a high poverty, rural school. Unfortunately, most of my students receive free or reduced lunch and many lack the money for basic necessities-pencils, bookbags, money for field trips, coats, etc. In order to be able to eat on the weekends, several of my students receive bags of food to take home on Fridays. Often after being in the classroom for so long, things can become mundane and "familiar." I want to be able to maintain the excitement I had for teaching on my very first day and instill eagerness to learn in my classroom. I want to ensure that my "baby's" first year at school is memorable and establishes a strong foundation for the rest of their educational career!!
