First grade is all about creating a love for reading and writing, and that would be impossible without books themselves! As a new teacher, I am trying to build my class library so students can have access to high quality literature. My students are learning to read in Spanish, requiring that our entire library be comprised of children's Spanish books. Unfortunately, most of the affordable/free books I can find are in English, which is where you come in! I will use many of these books for class read-alouds that tie into units we will be studying throughout the year. The leveled books will be perfect for students to practice their developing literacy skills, and the books on emotions are important for social-emotional discussions.
