Students at my school are part of a transformation -- only several years ago this school was one of the most dangerous in the city. Today, my students have worked hard to close the achievement gap, virtually eliminate violence, and are now preparing for not only college acceptance but college completion. West Philadelphia is still a challenging place to grow up. Despite the numerous and enormous challenges, my students come to my door daily with bright minds and great attitudes. Unfortunately, they are also often without basic supplies.
