After visiting my colleagues' classroom and talking to them about how they implement flexible seating, I had a discussion with my students to find out what they think about getting a classroom redesign. I believe that creating a positive and comfortable environment for the students is an essential component in motivating them to work for their best. Therefore, involving them in deciding flexible seating options allow them to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. Currently my students are choosing to work at different parts of our room such as: at different tables, on their chairs, sitting and or laying down on the rugs with clip boards and notebooks. My students are noticeably more engaged in their work when they're given choices. The take away from our circle discussion time is that my students simply love the idea of having a new clean rug where they spend a lot of their learning time on, and the different choices of alternative seating such as perhaps a rocking chair, beanbag chair in our room! I'm hoping that the various products I chose for this project will help my students by providing them with additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. So please help my students get a fresh clean rug, a bean bag, and 2 back jack chairs to provide a relaxing space with alternative seating options! We would truly appreciate your kind consideration in helping to fund this project!
