We have initiated a before-school program to allow K-5 students an opportunity to practice basic Math Facts using digital platforms, hands-on centers, and flash cards. Students prove their math fluency with a rigorous timed test and then are presented with a "License to Multiply" or "Lil' License" for addition and subtraction in the younger grades. Our students are very proud of when they achieve this honor. They are granted with an official appearing License with their photo on it and the date they proved their fluency. Licensed scholars receive monthly incentives such as "Sundaes for Licensed Scholars", "VIP Seating and Snacks" at school sporting events, and other small rewards. The requested materials would support the program in many ways. Students can play games and quiz each other with flash cards. The pencils requested are to be used for incentives; the badge holders are for the creation of licenses. We want to encourage every opportunity for our students to master their basic math facts. Math fluency is a building block for success, especially as more intricate concepts and skills are introduced. Please help our scholars meet their full potential.
