Our school population consists of 98% minority students (69% African American, 22% Hispanic). 93% of the overall population are on free or reduced lunch with more than 60% of those students are economically disadvantaged. The overall student performance in the state science test indicates that 56% of students scored below level 3 in the standardize exam. This demonstrates that students need additional support in identifying experimental variables and constructing logical conclusions from collected data.
