In order to give students concrete ideas of how life is lived in the German speaking world, I try to find authentic materials online including videos, articles, radio broadcasts, weather reports, and advertisements. I also want to help my students form connections with German students through an online pen pal interface. By making a personal connection with the culture, students will learn tolerance and find commonality with people who may, at first, seem different than them. Utilizing these Chromebooks gives students real time access to German culture and the opportunity to connect with other students around the world; helping bridge the divide between two cultures and creating more understanding both at home and abroad.
