These materials will seamlessly connect theory to practice for my middle school science students. It's one thing to learn the content, but it's another thing to actually conduct labs and experience the learning hands-on. Many of the students in my district are disadvantaged, and these hands-on science activities allow them experience phenomena that they might not have an opportunity to experience otherwise. For example, the dissolved water testing kit will allow them to test the water quality in their own community. The tuning forks show how waves, although invisible to the naked eye, travel through space, a concept that is difficult to convey to students without a physical aid.
