My fantastic and fabulous scholars will use these novels to stimulate frank discussions about identity in their community, their city, their state, and in their country and how that identity is crafted by their actions and society's perception of them. These students will answer such questions as "How does society's perception of my identity influence my perception of my identity?" and "In what ways is my identity shaped by my community, my race, and my beliefs?" Your generous donation will give these deserving and dedicated students the ability to study contemporary literature that reflects who they are and where they come from. Many novels studied in our classrooms do not reflect the changing demographics of our schools. My sensational scholars could serve as the cultural vanguard on their campus through the study of these novels, inspiring lower-classmen to pick up these novels and search for their own identity and meaning in this world.
