Students at our charter school come from a variety of backgrounds. Our diverse freshman class (class of 2016) came from over 60 different middle schools and over 50 different zip codes. In terms of their demographics, our student body is roughly 52% Hispanic/Latino, 20% African American, 18% White and 5% Asian. What they have in common is a desire to pursue a career in science and engineering. In terms of learning, our philosophy is to have student demonstrate their mastery through projects. We don't give traditional test. They need to apply their knowledge. This ties in well with the PLTW curriculum offered at our school. Every student takes Intro to Engineering Design their freshman year followed by Principles of Engineering the following year.
