I am a Learning Disabilities Teacher at an elementary school. My job requires a lot of supplementing of materials that go along with the Illinois Standards and textbooks that the children use throughout their day. I want to make the transition from my room to the classroom as seamless as possible. I also want to make sure that I use the same language as the classroom teacher. The only difference may be that I spend extra time on a particular area (if students are still struggling with it) and I like to find multiple ways of presenting a certain topic. The point of this is that hopefully I can find the way that works for that tangled child. My school has a high poverty population and the children do not always have the supplies and support at home to help them practice. I want school to be a place that fun, adventurous, exciting and enriching for them.
